If your dog has ticks, then you’ll want to get them removed as soon as possible as they can release bacteria into the dog.
As well as causing pain or irritation to your dog while they are embedded in it’s skin feeding off your pet’s lood, they may also spread lyme disease or other diseases to your dog too.

1. Wear rubber gloves to protect your own skin.
2. Get a pair of fine tweezers
3. Place the tweezers horizontally around the ticks head and press the tweezers as close as you can to the dogs skin before you close and grip the tweezers. This is so that you can grab the tick by the head and successfully extract it from the dog. Once you have gripped (do not crush it or bacteria might get released) the tick, pull the tweezers upwards in a steady, firm fashion. Do not jerk or twist the tweezers otherwise you might cause the embedded part of the tick to break off and remain stuck in your dog.
You may have heard of other removal methods such as using a burnt match or petroleum jelly. Ignore these methods, they may do nothing other than simply aggravate the tick, possibly resulting in the release of harmful bacteria.
Removing ticks from dogs is simple, so long as you take care. If in doubt, or you’re not confident that you can do it safely yourself, don’t bother trying, take your dog to a vet as soon as possible and let the vet remove it.
