U all of u people got to know that there is a good removal way than this barbarian pulls out.
In this case u hurt the dog because the tick resist the pulling and injure the place where the bite was done.
The best way is to make the tick fell off all alone and the tick will gently pull his head out and not injure the dog. And the method is to put sunflower oil on the tick and the tick will remain without air and the only head with whom might breathe is inside so will take his head out all alone

Well they really werent that worried about gloves they were trying to save a dogs life, and since they were in Nicaragua that ment they were probably traveling and maybe didnt have a pair on them at the time. You should be more worried about the dog than damn gloves! Anal!
